Fathima Mahomed

"Child and youth care had not previously been practiced in schools. Having specialized in school and after-school care, I decided to work in this area for 2003. At the school I did 'one on one' as well as group counseling, coordinated mini-programs on drug awareness. I also conducted the guidance and life orientation sessions. It really was refreshing working in a school. I shared my ideas of restorative practices and my knowledge of the developmental perspective [strengths based on holistic work.] with the staff and principa. I am currently working with two high school students on an individual basis, who are experiencing learning difficulties. I hope to continue working with teenagers in a school setting."
