Child & Youth Development Programme at the Durban Institute of Technology

Students are equipped to work in a variety of child care settings, focussing on the child and his or her development in the family or alternative settings. This involves management, evaluation, care, assessment and treatment of people, places, policies, programmes and processes. The child and youth care worker has the job of "being there" for the child. He or she is not a psychologist, social worker or teacher, but should be able to work with these professionals. Children at risk need particular care.

Recently, NBLSA established international links with Black law students in Canada, England and South Africa who decided to model their student organizations after NBLSA.
