Yolisa Sogayise

I am Sogayise Yolisa, I was born in a town called Idutywa at a village knows as Qeqe during the apartheid times. I am currently staying in Stellenbosch at Kayamnadi in those Corrugated irons that runs water in the roof, when it’s winter.
At University of the Western Cape BA- Social Anthropology and I am involve in a programme of HIV-Aids on Campus and the Gender programme. I am working as a lab assistant in one of the biggest labs at UWC that is Thintana or TLTU. Firstly I deed volunteer in 2004 then after I apply and they take me because I know the work and I did volunteer. The job that I want when I got my Honours degree is to be a researcher in the Human science research council (HSRC). Basically what are we doing as peer educators of HIV-AIDS we go to first years, when there is orientation week and we make workshop about HIV-AIDS and try to change some stigma and discrimination around several issues related to HIV-AIDS. We are also going around schools that are around campus and doing the workshops and we give then post and pre-questioners in order to see how they know about and what is lacking.
Outside school I am a volunteer in Kayamnadi as an ECP (Eye on child Protection), this programme is involve with the Social workers of Kayamnadi. Our job the is to look at children who are being abused and who do not have money to go school and we try to help then. The are people who donate there but we are still looking for more because Kayamnadi community most of the people they are not working at all.
My slogan is ‘ I am running my life as business’. I am taking any opportunity that goes by because I want to help people of the world.
